We believe your personal data belongs to you. Neolia collects only what is necessary to provide the service and never sells your personal information to third parties.
1. Who We Are
Neolia ("we", "us", "our") is a social messaging application that lets you send messages, make audio and video calls, share stories, and interact with a creator economy powered by coins and rewards.

2. Data We Collect
We collect data in three ways: data you provide directly, data generated by your use of the app, and data collected automatically by our infrastructure.
Account information:
- Display name, profile photo, and bio
- Email address (via Google Sign-in or direct registration)
- Phone number (optional, for contact discovery)
- Date of birth (for age verification)
Usage data:
- Messages and call metadata (duration, timestamps) — message content is not read by Neolia
- Stories and media you post
- Coin transactions, purchases, and reward history
- Ranking, badges, and subscription data
- App interaction logs (screens viewed, features used)
Device and technical data:
- Device type, operating system, and app version
- Push notification tokens
- IP address and approximate geolocation (for fraud prevention)
- Crash reports and performance data via Firebase Crashlytics
Location data:
Neolia may request access to your device's location to power geo-based features (nearby users, events). Location access is always optional and can be revoked at any time in your device settings.
3. How We Use Your Data
- Provide the service — deliver messages, calls, notifications, and all in-app features
- Account management — authenticate your identity and manage your profile
- Coin economy — process purchases, distribute rewards, and track balances
- Safety & moderation — detect abuse, spam, and violations of our Terms of Service
- Analytics — understand how the app is used to improve it (aggregated, anonymized)
- Push notifications — alert you to new messages, calls, and activity
- Legal compliance — fulfill obligations under applicable law
We do not use your data to serve third-party advertising.
4. Third-Party Services
Neolia uses the following trusted third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:
- Google Firebase — authentication, database, storage, analytics, crash reporting, and cloud functions (Firebase Privacy)
- Google Sign-In — account authentication
- Google Maps — location features within the app
- Stripe — payment processing for web-based purchases (Stripe Privacy)
- Apple (App Store) and Google (Play Store) — in-app purchases
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any other third parties except as required by law.
5. Payments & Coins
Neolia features a virtual coin economy. Coins can be purchased through:
- Apple App Store or Google Play in-app purchases — payment is processed by Apple/Google, not by Neolia directly
- Stripe — for web-based purchases; Neolia never stores your full card number; all sensitive payment data is handled by Stripe
Coins have no monetary value outside the app and cannot be exchanged for cash. All purchases are final unless required otherwise by applicable consumer protection law.
Subscription and paid call revenue earned by creators is processed through Stripe Connect. Financial data for payouts is subject to Stripe's verification requirements.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time from the app settings or via our dedicated page at getneolia.com/delete-account.
- Account access: closed automatically after a confirmed deletion request
- Profile and discovery data: anonymized or removed as part of the deletion workflow
- Message and conversation records: may remain in minimized or anonymized form to preserve service integrity
- Transaction and legally required billing records: retained for up to 10 years where required for legal and tax compliance
- Crash logs and analytics: anonymized and retained for up to 14 months
7. Your Rights (GDPR & Local Law)
If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the following rights:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Rectification — correct inaccurate data
- Erasure — request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Restriction — limit how we process your data
- Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
- Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests
- Withdraw consent — where processing is based on your consent

8. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including:
- Firebase Security Rules restricting data access to authorized users only
- Firebase App Check to prevent unauthorized API access
- Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
- Minimal data exposure — public user profiles contain only what you choose to share
No system is 100% secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at support@getneolia.com.
9. Children's Privacy
Neolia is not intended for children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the European Union). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we become aware that a child has provided us with personal data, we will delete it promptly.
